Toxins are making us fat
Calorie balance, while certainly true, is quite useless informatioÂn for a large portion of the population in their weight loss efforts, as is the prescriptiÂon for exercise.
Here is what I (and others) have observed on the topic of weight loss resistanceÂ:
In a properly functioninÂg body, calorie balance is natural/auÂtomatic, maintaininÂg the person at an ideal weight set-point, with no need for manual interventiÂon. Studies performed over 70 years ago on children establisheÂd this fact.
Moderate exercise is not likely to produce weight loss, and may actually lead to weight gain, as it generates an increase in appetite that may offset any gains in burned calories or metabolism increase.
Something has happened in the past few generationÂs that has caused an increase in weight set-point and/or intense excessive food cravings that require Herculean efforts to overcome. What happened?
In my opinion, an enormously toxic environmenÂt happened, that is wreaking havoc on the health of our populationÂ. My definition of toxins includes processed and other FrankenfooÂds, organic and inorganic environmenÂtal toxins (mercury, lead, toxic halides, pesticidesÂ, fungicidesÂ, industrial chemicals, hormone disruptorsÂ) that have overwhelmeÂd the body regulatory functions for a large portion of the populationÂ.
I (and others) are experimentÂing with nature-basÂed programs to evaluate their overall impact on wellness, including weight control. Results are quite promising.
