Root canals leaching toxins
Dr. George Meinig, a pioneer in root canal procedures and a founder of The American Association of Endodontics, wrote The Root Canal Cover-Up as his apology to humanity for promoting the root canal procedure. Everyone I know who has read it has opted out of a root canal. Several dentists that have read it no longer recommend the procedure.
Meinig brought to light that virtually all root-canals eventually leak, and are loaded with virulent bacteria producing toxins able to travel down the tooth canal to virtually all parts of the body. While a strong defense system is usually able to keep the toxins in check, some precipitating event that drags down the defense system may enable the toxins to cause a variety of major illnesses anywhere in the body.
The original work in this area was conducted by Dr. Weston Price.
Attempts have been made to fix the problem with lasers, ozone, oxygen, and various sealing materials. According to the authors of the book “The Roots of Disease”, they do not work.
For an irreparably damaged tooth, I believe the safe option is extraction, with a permanent bridge replacement, preferably zirconia.
This is a very controversial subject, so place you bets with care. The stakes can be high.
